| This year our Queensland Chapter was granted full chapter status after successfully meeting all the requirements of the Board of Governors. In helping make all our hard work possible I would like to thank our current committee, who although small in numbers are dedicated to the ISES ideals. Moving forward we face the continued challenges due to the global financial crisis we continually strive to achieve forums for our members to communicate and network and continue their own professional development - whilst providing support through the difficult times. This year with continue to expand with 12 new members bringing our total membership to 40 and the launch of our student membership program which includes students from Griffith University. Our “Behind the Scenes” series continues to be well attended by industry that are given the unique opportunity of an in-depth look into the planning and execution of some of Queensland's key events and we thank the organisers and venues hosting and the hospitality shown to our members. The unprecedented access they provided our guests to all areas and the enthusiastic answers to the questions posed by members on the logistics of staging such unique events, - For your time and efforts I thank you. This year we aim to introduce a regular member’s newsletter and increase the frequency of our various events including networking, development and our uniquely and well attended Industry Leaders Lunch’s. It is our aim to strengthen our committee and sub-committee numbers to achieve our goals and I extend an invitation to existing members and new members who have passion, enthusiasm, dedication and service for their chosen career path, to join us as committee members to achieve our goals. In return we can promise a rewarding experience and lifelong friendships that are forged across the meeting table or networking event. In finishing I take a line from our UK chapter counterparts - "Above all, it's your ISES, so come on" Join us today for an exceptional year - let's make the most of it and Let's Do Business!" |
