2009 AMERICAN AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATION BENEFIT DINNER...PICTURE PERFECT!

James Gordon Workshop called upon their unique styling abilities to create and produce a look and feel that elegantly married the shared United States and Australian flag colours of red, white & blue.
The AAAL is a non-profit organisation devoted to building strategic alliances between the USA and Australia.  This event had to befit the quality expected from dignitaries, prominent business leaders, members of state and Federal governments and other esteemed guests, whilst adhering to a tight budget so as to maximize the overall goal of fundraising.
One of Australia’s most prominent business icons Mr. Frank Lowy AC was honoured for his ongoing commitment to the Australian-American relationship.
The venue: The Pavilion, AJC Royal Randwick
Given the number of important speeches a striking and specially designed stage backdrop incorporating iconic elements of both Sydney and New York was created and carried through to the table centre’s, featuring custom drawn silhouettes wrapped around a glowing vase.
As with all live broadcast events, the sound, lighting and vision had to be of the highest quality. Much care was taken to ensure just the right hues of red and blue in just the right proportions filled the room. A variety of textured and 2D and 3D gobos were also used to project a night sky of stars onto the ceiling – yet another nod to a common feature on both nations flags.

The Royal Australian Navy Band entertained the guests throughout the evening and the highlight being their soloist performing beautiful renditions of Waltzing Matilda and God Bless America.

Last minute changes and requests did not deter from the event execution without a hitch, and gaining the admiration of the New York division of the AAAL.
